Black and White

I found these "build a flower" sheets I had from ages ago, created by a craft forum buddy. Black and white on cards looks so elegant I think. I am really please with how these turned out. The flower on the Thank You card is mounted on black gloss card which is just gorgeous!

Where to start!

Last week someone asked me to make a card, fine I thought, what did you have in mind? She is mad on Fiat 500 cars says the lady...well an odd request but I've had a bash! I had no idea what Fiat 500 cards looked like, googled them and got some nice images. Here's the result, hope she likes it!

Just getting ready for a craft fair tomorrow, being held at my local school. Trying a few new bits like notelets and bookmarks this year so fingers crossed!!

Gorgeous sunny day today, doesn't it make you feel better too.

Sunny days!

Well I woke up to a lovely sunny Thursday! Am making the most of it because the forecast is for a rainy and windy Easter. Boo. So washing out by 8am and started on housework.

The upside of a wet weekend of course is staying indoors and crafting. Was hoping to get out and about but every cloud and all that...

This week I was asked to make a couple of cards. This order stumped me for a while...I 50th birthday card for a horse loving lady. The customer wanted a jockey on a horse and "something to do with past the finishing post". Oh yes and can I have it by Wednesday (this was Monday!) Don't think this is bad for a rush job, she was very pleased with it anyway. The horse image was printed onto acetate for a bit of a different effect.

Handmade Age Cards

I never really do cards for kids unless asked for a specific commission...however I have dipped my toe in the water and done a few for young ages.

These two are for 3 year old (obviously!) and I am doing some samples for personalised age cards which I will post later.

I'm a regular visitor to Craft Forum UK and have decided to set up a new group for crafters in the Notts area. Please feel free to join us at

and don't forget to tell your friends!

Hoping it will be another place for us all to find out about crafty events, fairs etc and make a few new friends.

Leaving card for an Owls fan!

My friend leaves her current job this week..she will be very emotional and so instead of something wordy and heartfelt - she already knows she'll be missed - I decided on a funny card!

She is a big Sheffield Wednesday fan so settled on this one. I don't generally make funny cards, I find them difficult because of my style of handmade card. Hope she likes it.

Packs of thank you cards

At my last craft fair I sold a few packs of notelets. Which got me to thinking, what other cards would people buy in bulk. After a scout around WHS I came up with the idea of thank you cards and birth announcements.

Here's my first attempt at packs of handmade cards...

Elisabeth Bell stamps

I love the stamps designed by Elisabeth Bell, just so cute! Well now she does digistamps which I have just started to experiment with. This is my first effort with a stamp called "A Tasty Read".

In the absence of any Promarkers, which are going on my wishlist, I have used some cheap pens bought from Lidl!! Think they worked OK.

Anniversary card with recycled calendar picture!

Always one for spotting a crafting opportunity from freebies, I cut up my mums 2009 calendar which had some gorgeous Art Deco designs on it. I made this card using a lovely red and black image, used the paisley cuttlebug folder to emboss red foil for the bottom half and finished off with my current trend of coloured gem stones.

Mum wants to buy the card off me to send to me and Andy for our anniversary!

Cuttlebug anniversary cards

I have been having a good play with my new cuttlebug this weekend! I need to revamp all my occasion cards before the new craft fair season and I've started with age cards and anniversaries. These are the results so far and I'm pretty happy with them.

On a roll!

Well while I was uploading one card I thought I might as well carry on! This one was a tricky one to make but I think it works. It says just what I needed it to say - sometimes less is more.

I printed the design onto acetate and finished it with the sentiment.

New cards

I have finally at last and eventually uploaded some of my new cards! This one is using my favourite paper of the week...I discovered it on my Baby Love CD and its just so cute and so versatile too. The Smirk tag was perfect to complete the card along with a matching button I found lurking in my tin.

The messages are for me

So I just watched a new episode of Crossing Over with John Edward. I love that man, he's so accurate and I love the way he delivers his messages. I particularly enjoy the snippets at the end of the shows...questions from the audience or just general spiritual titbits.

The things he says in these feel like they are aimed at me, like he is there looking directly at me and talking to me only. This latest episode he talked about the messages he gives in the gallery are for everyone, as validation. Yes so true.

He also spoke about first being told he was clairaudient - literally clear hearing. He says he expected to hear spirit like a tannoy announcement but that never happens. Its as simple as a thought in your head. Thats just blown me away...I often think when I ask spirit a question the answer is my own...possibly not then. I have been told that the first answer that enters your head when you question something is your gut instinct. I need to follow it.
